Jordan Henderson has been ruled out of Liverpool’s Boxing Day Premier League clash against Swansea.

Manager Jurgen Klopp admitted to Sky Sports, as quoted by their website, that the Anfield skipper is definitely out of the 5.30pm kick-off at Anfield on Tuesday amid fears he could miss the entire festive schedule.

Henderson, 27, was forced off the field after just 12 minutes in the 3-3 thriller against Arsenal at Emirates Stadium on Friday evening.

Speaking after the Arsenal game, as quoted by Sky Sports, Klopp said: “The problem is that Hendo will not feature for sure, he is out.”

Henderson has been a mainstay for Klopp this season, making 23 appearances in all competitions, including 15 league starts out of a possible 19.

OPINION

Henderson can hardly be said to be a huge favourite of the Liverpool faithful, many of whom claim he does not have the all-round game to back up the swagger and strut. Steven Gerrard he is not, but the England international is a reliable performer who offers energy, commitment and desire in the centre of the park. When fit, he is virtually always on Klopp’s teamsheet. With the fixtures coming thick and fast, Liverpool need bodies and proven performers. Henderson will be missed while he is absent.
