Everton are reportedly preparing a club-record £60million pursuit of Borussia Dortmund sensation Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – and football fans have gone into meltdown on Twitter.
The Mirror claim the Merseysiders want to sign the Gabon international in the January transfer window as the Bundesliga club prepare to listen to offers for their star man.
It is said that new manager Sam Allardyce has targeted Aubameyang, 28, as he looks to find a striker capable of filling the boots of Romelu Lukaku, who quit to join Manchester United for £90million in the summer.
German publication BILD have also reported this week that Everton are scouting the forward, who is highly regarded as one of the deadliest forwards in Europe and is believed to be unhappy in Germany.
He has an extraordinary goal record at Dortmund, with 19 from 20 matches in the current campaign after 40 in 46 appearances last season, and 39 goals from 49 games in 2015-16.
Fans of Everton and other clubs are fascinating at the possibility of a concerted pursuit of such a renowned player.
