Everton agree Feeney terms

|

Everton centre-back Morgan Feeney has agreed the terms of a new three-year contract with the club, it has been announced.

The Bootle-born defender admitted to the official Everton website he was on “cloud nine” after penning a deal that runs until the summer of 2020.

The 18-year-old Goodison Park academy product has broken into the Everton first team this season, making two appearance in the Europa League, including in the 3-0 victory over Apollon Limassol.

Speaking to the official Everton site, Feeney said: “It’s been a crazy couple of months and weeks for me, but it has all fallen nicely into place and I am on cloud nine at the minute and everything is working out well.”

Everton have an impressive record of developing academy players into established first teamers, and are also prepared to back them with long-term deals. The new contract for Feeney comes in a week in which three other rising stars Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Jonjoe Kenny and Mason Holgate all signed extended deals. There is a real sense that Everton is the place to be for the rising stars of English football. Under-23s manager David Unsworth may not have secured the first-team manager’s role he wanted, but he has an impressive record of nurturing the youngsters under his wing.
