Serge Aurier was recalled to the Tottenham team for their 2-1 defeat away at Leicester City on Tuesday – and fans took to Twitter to strongly criticise his performance.

First half goals from  Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez cancelled out Harry Kane’s rifled strike with 12 minutes remaining to put a massive dent in Spurs’ title hopes.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have now won just once in their last five league matches and will fall to seventh in the Premier League table if Liverpool win at Stoke, and Burnley triumph at Bournemouth on Wednesday night.

Aurier was recalled to the starting XI on the right side of defence as Pochettino made four changes from the side that drew 1-1 against West Brom at the weekend.

But the Ivory Coast international struggled to make an impact, and was caught out defensively on many occasions.

The summer signing bore the brunt of much of the venom on social media in the aftermath of the match as supporters pointed the finger at where he went wrong.
