Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to express their delight at an outrageous piece of skill from Marcus Edwards while on England duty.
The Spurs attacking midfielder created England Under-20s’ only goal in their 2-1 defeat to Germany on Wednesday night with a quite brilliant backheel while on the move.
Edwards delivered the ball into the path of Harvey Barnes, who took the pass into his stride before finishing into the top corner.
It was not enough to prevent World Cup winners England slipping to defeat but Tottenham fans were left wide-eyed at the sumptuous play from their academy product.
Edwards is regarded as one of the brightest products to have emerged from the Spurs Tottenham academy for years, but he is yet to properly break into the first team picture.
Mauricio Pochettino’s thoughts on the wide man in his new book Brave New World: Inside Pochettino’s Spurs provides fascinating insight as he explained how the youngster has behavioural issues and problems with dealing with authority.
But Spurs fans are excited at the potential of the 18-year-old wide man and were mightily impressed by his running backheel while on international duty.
