Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has hailed Manchester City as the ‘best team today in Europe’.

The Argentine delivered the glowing compliment about Pep Guardiola’s side following their remarkable start to the season.

City have accumulated 28 points from 10 Premier League matches to top the table by five points following a series of brilliant attacking displays and have been equally effective in Europe.

Guardiola’s team won 4-2 in the Champions League away at Serie A leaders Napoli in midweek to reach the knockout stages of the competition.

“So far they are showing great quality and, for me, they’re the best team today in Europe,” said an impressed Pochettino.

City, who are not set to play Tottenham until mid-December, host Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday, while third-placed Spurs are preparing to play Crystal Palace at Wembley.

OPINION

Spurs had a pretty decent result themselves in midweek, but who can argue with Pochettino’s claim that City are the best in Europe? Guardiola’s side have been breathtaking in the opening three months of the season, and it is hard to see who can stop them in the domestic arena. Spurs, along with Manchester United, appear the most likely challengers but it will be some feat to remain on the coat-tails of City, given the way they have raced out of the blocks in the early part of the season.
