Arsenal legend Martin Keown has heaped huge praise on Tottenham duo Son Heung-Min and Moussa Sissoko for their recent performances at the club.

Son, 25, enjoyed his best campaign at White Hart Lane last season in terms of numbers since joining the club, contributing with 21 goals and ten assists in all competitions.

The forward has continued with his fine form at the start of this season, scoring three goals and two assists so far, including a stunning winner in the last match against Crystal Palace before the international break.

Sissoko, 28, endured a tough debut campaign in North London last season, failing to score a single goal for the club last season but he has delivered improved displays this time.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has put his faith in the France international this season, with the midfielder featuring in 17 matches so far and contributing with two goals.

Writing in his column for the Daily Mail, Arsenal great Keown believes that the Spurs pairing should be credited for their improvement at the club.

“For so long, Arsenal have had it all their own way,” he wrote.

“Now Pochettino is building an extremely talented, exciting young side with an English core that every Premier League manager would crave.

“I particularly like the way he gives a second chance to players. Both Moussa Sissoko and Son Heung-min did not have the best first seasons at the club but have since come on in leaps and bounds.

“If Spurs’ progress was to continue for years to come, the alarm bells would be ringing at Arsenal.”

OPINION

Arsenal supporters will be disheartened to hear one of their former greats acknowledging Spurs as a potential threat to their North London dominance. However, Keown is spot on about his assessment and Spurs boss Pochettino deserves a lot of credit for the way he has managed to keep the entire squad on side especially over the last couple of seasons. Although he still manages to divide opinion, Sissoko has finally settled in his role at Tottenham but he’ll need to produce in the big games in order to completely win over the Spurs faithful. With regards to Son, he is one of the underrated players in the league and he appears to bring the best out of his fellow teammates when called upon.
