Japhet Tanganga

A central defender who turned 18 in March, Tanganga has already been capped three times at England Under-20 level even though he is yet to be named in a Tottenham squad and is only a relatively recent regular for the Under-23s. The right-sided centre-half has come on in leaps and bounds in the last 12 months, with his powerful physique and commanding presence ideally suited to his defensive role. He has been a key man for the Under-23s this season and there are many at White Hart Lane who believe he has caught up with Cameron Carter-Vickers, the American powerhouse who was a regular in the first-team squad last season and is now on loan at Championship high flyers Sheffield United.
