Newcastle United must seriously consider making a move for Leicester City attacking duo Leonardo Ulloa and Islam Slimani during the January transfer window.

The Leicester Mercury recently revealed that the future of both strikers at the King Power Stadium is uncertain, so this is the perfect chance for the Magpies to swoop in.

Ulloa, 31, has struggled to get himself into contention for a regular starting place with the Foxes this season as he has only featured in two matches which both came in the Carabao Cup.

The striker would be a fantastic addition to St James’ Park because he has experience playing at the top-flight and he can make the desired impact when deployed as an impact substitute.

Ulloa would also add a winning mentality to Newcastle after he played a vital role in helping the Foxes lift the Premier League title for the first time in their history during the 2015-16 campaign.

Slimani, 29, has never been given a fair shot since securing a permanent deal to Leicester at the beginning of last season.

Although he has only managed to feature in nine matches this season, the striker has still managed to contribute with four goals and one assist in the process.

The Algeria international proved that he could perform on the big stage last season, making five Champions League appearances and scoring the winning goal in the 1-0 group stage tie against Portuguese giants Porto.

Slimani can also boast a history of silverware after helping Sporting Lisbon lift the Portuguese Cup two years ago.

The Magpies have experienced a dip in form in front of goal in the Premier League, notching up just one goal in their last three matches.

The lack of firepower has seen them drop from level on points with champions Chelsea into the bottom half of the league table.

Acquiring the services of both Ulloa and Slimani, Newcastle would have no problem securing a top half finish and steer well clear of the relegation zone.

With Ulloa’s contract expiring in two years time whilst Slimani’s expires in 2021, Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez could attempt to land the former on the cheap whereas he could attempt to the convince the latter on a loan deal in January.

Both players will surely be inspired to play in front of a packed St James’ Park on a weekly basis.
