Marouane Fellaini is set to bring down the curtain on his Manchester United career by signing a pre-contract agreement with Besiktas in January, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claim that talks between the Belgium international and United over a new deal have reached a stalemate.

The Mirror report that a deal has now been agreed for Fellaini to join Turkish club Besiktas for £8million in January.

The 29-year-old is out of contract next summer and it is said that the giant midfielder will be first out of the exit door in seven weeks’ time after Jose Mourinho was sold that he must sell before he buys.

Fellaini joined United for £27.5million from Everton in the summer of 2013.

OPINION

It will concern the United faithful that Mourinho has had the rug pulled under his feet in the transfer market by his own club. The Premier League big guns have spent lavishly in recent years, including last summer, and it is increasingly clear there is no bottomless pit for the manager to dip into. Fellaini has been jeered by his own supporters at various junctures during the last four-and-a-half years, when he was seen as the emblem of everything that was wrong about a malfunctioning side. But Jose has made it clear that he is a big fan of the strapping Belgian, who scares opponents to death. When United are chasing a late goal, he is the A1 scoring option with his formidable aerial presence. Is United’ failure to hold on to Fellaini the beginning of the end of the love affair between the club and the temperamental Mourinho?
