Sadio Mane is back in full team training and is expected to be fit to play for Liverpool against Southampton on Saturday, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The newspaper claim that the Senegal international, 25, has recovered from the hamstring problem he sustained on international duty and is on course for a place in Jurgen Klopp’s side as they prepare to host the Saints at Anfield.

Mane was released early by Senegal after complaining of discomfort following their 2-0 win over South Africa last Friday.

The Echo report that the wide forward undertook two days of rehab under the eyes of Liverpool’s medical staff and was then given the green light to play a full part in Thursday’s session.

OPINION

News from the reliable Echo that Mane’s hamstring problem is not as bad as feared is a gamechanger ahead of Saturday’s showdown against Southampton. The brilliant winger was sorely missed during the five matches he missed with a separate hamstring injury before the international break and the instant impetus he provided to the team at West Ham demonstrated his influence. Lightning quick, inventive and a clinical finisher, Mane has been one of the most exciting and potent forwards in the Premier League since joining Liverpool in the summer of 2016. There is now the mouthwatering prospect of the Fab Four of Philippe Coutinho, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Mane starting a Premier League match for the first time together on Saturday.
