Liverpool fans took to Twitter to criticise Jordan Henderson even though their team took a sensational 3-0 half-time lead at Sevilla on Tuesday night.
The Merseysiders’ front four of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Philippe Coutinho and Mohamed Salah ripped the Spanish side apart with some joyous football that put them on course for a place in the last-16 of the Champions League.
Firmino scored twice and Mane added a third with an athletic header as Liverpool delivered an attacking display that will make the rest of Europe sit up and take notice.
But a section of supporters were not entirely happy, as they felt Sevilla were able to cut open the visitors’ defence too easily in the opening period.
The home side created two excellent one-on-one chances, but Loris Karius made one fine save and narrowed the angle on the second occasion as a shot was dragged wide.
The finger of blame from the Liverpool faithful was pointed at skipper Jordan Henderson, who lined up in central midfield alongside Georginio Wijnaldum.
This Is Futbol has rounded up some of the best tweets:
This Sevilla manager has figured out how to get past our midfielders after a throw in. Henderson awful positionally so far.
