Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani has asked fans for their “love and passion” on Sunday for the clash at home to Middlesbrough.

The Whites host Boro at Elland Road in the Championship and both teams will be striving for three points after the international break.

There is the added subplot that ex-Leeds boss Garry Monk will be returning to his former side and there is set to be a frosty reception for the Boro manager.

Meanwhile, current Whites manager Thomas Christiansen is in desperate need of a positive result after watching his team slip to 10th in the league table.

The Yorkshire giants have tasted defeat in six of their last seven Championship games and need to stop the rot to get their promotion bid back on track.

Radrizzani has pleaded on social media with Leeds supporters to get behind the struggling team at the weekend against Boro.

“Finally we are back in the biz on Sunday. Let’s make Elland Road loud and on fire for the lads. We need your love and passion,” Radrizzani wrote on his personal Twitter account.

OPINION

The Leeds faithful are set to play a big role to try help lift their side on Sunday and the support at Elland Road is usually a positive one. However, even the most die-hard fans may begin to lose confidence with Christiansen if they suffer yet another defeat at the weekend as their play-off pursuit could begin to fade away. The Yorkshire giants clearly have plenty of games to turn it around and the Boro clash may not define their season, but they need a morale boosting win quickly and have games against Wolves, Barnsley and Aston Villa on the horizon.
