Lewie Coyle was sent off for Fleetwood in the FA Cup against non-league Chorley on Monday night – and Leeds United fans on Twitter reacted to the display of their loanee.

The 22-year-old defender is currently on a season-long loan at the League One club from the Whites and is enjoying regular first-team football.

Many Leeds fans have stated recently that the right-back should be recalled to Elland road to compete with Luke Ayling for a spot in the starting XI.

The youngster has excelled so far in a right wing-back position for Fleetwood and supplied four assists in 18 games.

However, he endured a nightmare night on Monday as he was shown a red card for a dangerous challenge on Jake Cottrell.

Fleetwood managed to avoid a cup upset by turning around a one-goal deficit to win the match 2-1 and their dramatic comeback came when they were down to 10 men.

Leeds fans got the chance to watch their defender in action on BT Sport as the international break kicks in and were not convinced by what they saw of Coyle.

This Is Futbol has rounded up some of the best tweets:

Coyle is a product of the Leeds academy and for the most part he impressed during his spell away at Fleetwood, which has seen him thrive on the right flank.

He has already made 23 senior appearances for the Whites in the past and is being tipped to become a future first-team player in Thomas Christiansen’s side.

However, his dismissal in the FA Cup suggests that he still has parts of his game to brush up on and is a fiery character.
