Anthony Georgious has revealed on Twitter he has agreed the terms of a new Tottenham contract.

The left-sided midfielder, 20, took to his personal account on the social media site on Thursday to report that he has signed a new deal.

Gerogiou has committed to terms that run until 2020.

The academy product is a regular for Tottenham’s Under-23s and went on the pre-season tour to the United States, but he is yet to properly break into the first team picture.

His involvement has been limited to a six-minute run-out as a substitute in the 3-0 Champions League win against Apoel Nicosia in late September.

OPINION

Georgiou will be a solid professional but there are serious question marks as to whether he will follow the two Harrys – Kane and Winks – in establishing himself in the Spurs first team. As any regular observer of Tottenham’s development side in recent times know, the real talents are Oliver Skipp, Marcus Edwards, Tashan Oakley-Boothe and on-loan duo Josh Onomah and Cameron Carter-Vickers. Left-sided Georgiou has produced some dazzling displays for the Under-23s  but is a level or two below that quintet and he is more likely to establish himself in a Championship or League One club barring a miraculous improvement in the next year or two. It appears the new deal is simply a device to ensure Spurs can secure a reasonable fee for the youngster and avoid a repeat of the situation in which his fellow academy graduate Filip Lesniak left for a small compensation fee in the summer after running down his contract.
