Allardyce favourite to land Everton job

|

Sam Allardyce has emerged as the new favourite to become the next Everton manager, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.

SkyBet have priced the 63-year-old as the 2/1 favourite on Monday afternoon to be the full-time successor to Ronald Koeman at Goodison Park, which has been a huge slash in odds.

The former England boss is now consider the frontrunner ahead of Martin O’Neill (5/2), Marco Silva (3/1) and Tony Pulis (8/1).

It has been a dramatic U-turn in the odds as Allardyce was considered a 10/1 shot on Sunday and has now risen to the top of the pile.

Allardyce’s rise to favourite is even stranger given that he revealed to talkSPORT earlier in November that he was out of the running for the Everton job.

He explained that the Premier League club had taken too long to make him an offer after initial talks.

OPINION

Everton fans will take anyone right now as their new manager as the search for Koeman’s successor reaches five weeks. The Merseyside club have really struggled under caretaker boss David Unsworth and a relegation battle is becoming even more possible each week. They face a huge fixture at home to West Ham on Wednesday night, who are currently in the drop zone. Unsworth looks out of his depth as the Toffees boss and it would be no surprise to see them rollover in that massive game for the club. Everton lost 4-1 away to Southampton at the weekend and look a real mess right now.
