Arsenal want former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique to replace Arsene Wenger at the Emirates next season – and have already offered him a five-year contract, according to Don Balon.

The Spanish outlet report that Enrique has also been approached by Premier League clubs Liverpool and Chelsea, but has rejected them as he is keen on a move to North London.

Enrique reportedly believes that Arsenal can offer him several things that the others cannot: a five-year contract, a big salary on par with his old Barcelona contract, and the ability to have an influence at all levels of the club.

The 47-year-old is said to be travelling to London in a few weeks to discuss a potential move to the club.

OPINION

Enrique is a brilliant coach, and will bring with him a philosophy that would be welcomed among the Arsenal faithful. His experience at a club like Barcelona, allied with his young age, mean he is an exciting long-term replacement for Wenger. Despite the Frenchman signing a two-year contract at the end of last season, if Arsenal fail to qualify for the Champions League again this year, then it is likely that he will leave the club. Enrique would be a brilliant replacement, and one that Arsenal fans would surely be happy with.
