Arsenal fans took to Twitter to strongly criticise Alexis Sanchez for his performance in their 3-1 Premier League defeat against Manchester City on Sunday.
The Chilean was given the task of spearheading the Gunners’ attack as Arsene Wenger changed his formation to 4-2-3-1 and axed Alexandre Lacazette.
But Arsenal were totally outclassed as Pep Guardiola’s side produced another sensational attacking display that secured their 10th win from 11 league matches this season.
The Londoners slip to sixth in the table, 12 points behind City, and face a massive battle to regain a place in the Champions League.
Sanchez failed to make any impression as he cut a frustrated figure at the point of the attack before moving to a wide role following the introduction of Lacazette, whose fine finish briefly gave the Gunners hope at 2-1 down.
The forward has scored just one league goal this season after failing to get the transfer he wanted in the summer to City.
Sanchez is out of contract at the end of the season and a section of Arsenal supporters angrily claimed on Twitter after Sunday’s defeat that the club should get rid of him in the January window.
