Arsenal supporters took to Twitter to lay into Granit Xhaka even though their team secured a memorable 2-0 Premier League win against Tottenham on Saturday.
The 2016 signing played the full 90 minutes of the clash at Emirates Stadium as he shared central midfield duties with Aaron Ramsey in the Gunners’ 3-4-3 formation.
First-half goals from Shkodran Mustafi and Alexis Sanchez secured the three points for Arsenal as they climbed to fifth in the Premier League table and condemned third-placed Spurs to their third league defeat of the campaign.
Xhaka, who has started all 12 of Arsenal’s league fixtures this season, was criticised by supporters for receiving a yellow card after 32 minutes for a challenge on Dele Alli.
Many Arsenal fans feel that the Switzerland international is too susceptible to making silly errors that result in yellow and red cards, and took to social media en masse to question his decision-making as they urged Wenger to withdraw him from the action.
