Newcastle United should seriously consider an attempt to sign Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic on loan in January after his agent confessed he is looking for a temporary exit.

Agent Zoran Stojadinovic has revealed that the 21-year-old needs to leave Anfield on loan to experience more regular football and that remaining in England is the preferred option.

“Grujic has to go somewhere in January in a loan, in the team where he will play,” Stojadinovic told Blic.

“It must be an English club, he needs several minutes on the pitch and that is why a loan is already the best solution for him in January.”

Grujic has made just five senior appearances for Liverpool so far this campaign and is battling alongside some top names in Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

The central midfielder is recognised for being a bright upcoming talent at the Merseyside club and just needs a loan move to really spark his career.

Newcastle should be closely monitoring the situation of the Serbia international and have a real good chance of signing him if they move in the New Year transfer window.

Rafael Benitez could do with some real steel in the middle of the park and a loan swoop would be very smart given his current lack of finances at St James’ Park.

The North East club have Jonjo Shelvey and Mikel Merino as the two standout central midfielders in their squad, while there are still questions marks over the quality of Isaac Hayden and in particular Mohamed Diame.

There is certainly a gap in their squad for a midfielder to challenge for a starting role and Liverpool’s upcoming talent could be perfect.

Grujic is a versatile midfielder that can play a box-to-box role and has the potential to be a real success in English football.

The Serbian is a powerhouse with his physical presence and has also shown that he loves a tackle.

He has also proven during his development that he has an eye for goal when he makes attacking runs into the final third.

Grujic starred for Serbian top-flight club Red Star Belgrade back in the 2015/16 season, where he scored six goals and supplied seven assists in 30 appearances.
