Tottenham legend Graham Roberts has proposed that the club should swap Danny Rose for Manchester United winger Anthony Martial, and then bring in Ryan Sessegnon as a replacement.

Rose, 27, gave an explosive interview to the Sun in the summer in which he criticised the club’s transfer dealings and admitted he wanted a move back up north.

The left-back has since made his way back from a long-term ankle injury this season and appears to be part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans.

This hasn’t stopped the speculation however, and reports suggest that United are ready to make a big-money offer to Spurs for the flyer.

Spurs legend Roberts has now weighed in on the rumours, and proposed an interesting swap deal and subsequent replacement for Spurs, with speed machine Martial heading to White Hart Lane.

OPINION

Spurs could do much worse than acquiring Martial in a deal for Rose. Whether it would be a straight swap or a deal involving cash is irrelevant, because Martial would seem to be exactly what Spurs are missing. His pace and penetration in wide areas is badly lacking in this Spurs side, and by getting rid of Rose and bringing in the Frenchman, Spurs would be killing two birds with one stone. Sessegnon as a replacement for Rose at the back is being widely talked about, and again would represent a brilliant move for Mauricio Pochettino.
