Wolves £17m January signings on the cards – report

|

Wolves have deals in place to sign on-loan sensations Diogo Jota and Leo Bonatini for a combined £17million, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claims the the big-spending Midlands club have already agreed fees for Brazilian centre-forward Bonatini and Portugese left-winger Jota.

The Mirror report that the price set for Bonatini is £5million and the fee for Jota will be £12million, as the possibility grows that the deals could be done in the January window.

The two Wolves stars are both on season-long loans, with Bonatini on the books of Al-Hilal Riyadh and Jota belonging to Spanish giants Atletico Madrid.

Good moves for Wolves?

Undoubtedly. Bonatini and Jota have been brilliant loan signings, playing key roles in Wolves’ climb to the top of the Championship. Line-leader Bonatini has scored 10 goals and supplied four assists in 16 league matches, while wide playmaker Jota has netted seven times and provided three assists from 16 Championship fixtures. Both would be in most observers’ Championship team of the season to date and, while some players lose their edge when the sign permanent deals, there is no reason why the attacking pair will not continue to rip it up if they are handed long-term deals by Wolves.

Likely to happen?

The main two barriers are Financial Fair Play requirements and competition from other clubs. But Wolves have vast resources, certainly by Championship standards, and a willingness to invest in pursuit of the Premier League. There is a very good chance of both deals being done in January.
