Leeds expected XI to face Barnsley

Goalkeeper and defence

Felix Wiedwald (Goalkeeper) – The summer signing could be restored to the starting XI in place of Andy Lonergan, who delivered another shaky display in midweek. Wiedwald made mistakes during his run in goal but he can offer far more effective distribution than the Englishman.

Luke Ayling (Right-back) – With the full-back positions under the spotlight, Ayling is fighting to hold on to his place after a series of error-strewn displays. But he is likely to keep his ever-present league record by lining up on the right side of defence.

Liam Cooper (Centre-back) – The skipper’s form has nosedived in recent months and the error counts are starting to rack up to leave fans pining for Kyle Bartley. Cooper might get a stay of execution for one more game.

Pontus Jansson (Centre-back) – The Swede was the best of Leeds’ defenders at Wolves, but he did not always look commanding against direct and nippy runners.

Vurnon Anita (Left-back) – Surely, Gaetano Berardi will be axed after his limitations were exposed by the excellent Ivan Cavaleiro in midweek. That would most likely mean a recall for Anita, who is an experienced operator who can be relied upon to deliver.
