McCormack joined Aston Villa from Fulham during the 2016 summer transfer window but was loaned out to fellow Championship side Nottingham Forest just a few months later for the second half of the 2016/17 season.
During his time at the Midland side he made a total of 24 appearances across all competitions where he managed to score just three goals and provide one assist.
The former Scotland international featured in just two matches for Steve Bruce’s during the current season against both Wigan and Middlesbrough in the League Cup, but failed to appear in any of the Championship clashes.
