Former Chelsea and Man United midfielder Ray Wilkins is the latest pundit to heap praise on Tottenham’s Harry Kane, saying he’s the best striker in the Premier League.

Wilkins was talking on the Premier League Daily show on Sky Sports (Wednesday, 10am) and was asked who he thought was the better striker – Harry Kane or Romelu Lukaku.

“The only negative I can think of for Harry is that he doesn’t have that devastating pace,” said Wilkins.

“However, he compensates that with quickness of thought, and he’s the complete striker – he can score with his left foot, right foot and score with his head.

“If I had to pick any striker in the Premier League it would be Harry Kane at the moment.

“It’s embarrassing how clean he is with both feet.”

Wilkins went on to say that he thought that Kane is a Tottenham player through and through saying, “Harry will always be a Spur.”

Kane has won the Premier League’s Golden Boot for the past two seasons but started this campaign slowly, failing to score for the whole of August.

However, since then he’s been devastating, with six goals in four Premier League games and five in two Champions League games in September.

It leaves him just one goal behind Manchester United’s Lukaku in the Premier League charts – Lukaku has seven from seven games.

OPINION

Harry Kane is the complete striker. Being able to score with both feet – and his head – makes him devastating on the pitch, and it’s why he makes the game look so easy when he’s on top form. He’s playing in a Tottenham team that have an almost telepathic understanding and create chances for him every single game, and it’s hard to see him not scoring. The question this week is whether he can do it for England in their final two World Cup qualifiers. If Kane can produce for England, especially in the World Cup next summer, his stock will rise even further.
