Liverpool’s Under-23 manager Neil Critchley has hinted at a loan move for youngster Harry Wilson in January and Aston Villa should look to pounce for a deal.

The 20-year-old attacker is a highly-rated talent at Anfield and has been a star player for the youth team, while also being tipped for a great future at the Merseyside club.

He has featured once for Liverpool’s first team and many supporters are urging Jurgen Klopp to promote him to senior level.

Critchley explained that Wilson could will depart on loan when the transfer window re-opens despite the club turning down approaches in the summer.

“I think at some point he will go into a senior environment and play games when he is going to get tested both physically and mentally,” Critchley told the Liverpool Echo. “I’m sure if Harry keeps playing well for us between now and January then maybe he will have some more options then.”

Villa need to become frontrunners to sign Wilson as their will surely be a long queue of clubs interested if he becomes available.

The Wales Under-21 international usually plays on the right wing, but can also be used in a central position.

He is recognised for his brilliant technical ability and turn of pace, which sees him regarded as one of the best upcoming talents at Anfield.
Wilson is proving unplayable in the Under-23s age group and has been nominated for the Premier League 2 player of the month for September after scoring six goals.

He is certainly ready to make the step up to senior level and the Championship would be a brilliant platform for him to showcase his talents.

Meanwhile, Villa are looking to be in the race for promotion this season and are well placed in seventh after the opening 11 games.

Steve Bruce’s side may need a few additions in January to bolster their squad and the wide areas is certainly a position that could be strengthened.

Robert Snodgrass and Albert Adomah are the preferred players out wide, but Villa may need an injection of players in January to get the squad over the line for promotion.

Wilson has shown he is a rising star and in a similar vein to loanee Josh Onomah it would be worth Villa taking a punt on the Liverpool man.
