Ex-Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan has predicted that Harry Kane will find it hard to resist a move to Manchester United next season.

Kane has blasted 13 goals for club and country in September after his usual blank in August and will lead the line for England against Slovenia at Wembley on Thursday looking to continue his stunning goal run in October.

The 24-year-old has been receiving praise from all angles this season because of his brilliant and consistent finishing and Jordan, 50, thinks the forward could be primed for a big move next summer.

“I’m not trying to be disrespectful to Tottenham,” the outspoken Jordan told Kick Off, as quoted by talkSPORT.

“But if Manchester United come calling for Harry Kane, or Real Madrid – with an ageing forward line – come calling [it will be hard to resist].

“I think in a year’s time it will be very difficult for Harry Kane, at his peak, with Tottenham potentially not winning the Premier League and maybe struggling to even get into the Champions League, to resist the opportunity to move along.”

OPINION

While Jordan is not claiming to have the inside track on Kane moving to Manchester United, his prediction reflects a general consensus in the game that Spurs are not big enough to hold on to their talisman and star striker. Harry is in the form of his life, which is saying something for the winner of the Premier League golden boot in the past two seasons. But he has not yet entered his peak years, and many feel that his brilliance should be rewarded at a team capable of winning the Premier League and Champions League every year. Ambitious Tottenham will rightly claim they are that team, given they have finished way above United to claim consecutive third and second placed league finishes in 2015-16 and 2016-17, and already look like they will be in the title mix again this season. For good measure, they have also started to make an impression in Europe’s premier competition. It is way too premature to claim that Kane would be better off at Old Trafford.
