Stan Collymore has described Tottenham’s Mauricio Pochettino as a better “pound for pound manager” than Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola over the past the past three seasons.

The two Premier League bosses are regarded as some of the best in the business and are enjoying relative success at their respective clubs.

Pochettino has made giants strides with Spurs during his three campaigns at the North London club and helped them finish fifth, second and third in the Premier League.

However, he is still searching for his first piece of silverware and will hope his talented crop can lift a trophy this season.

Meanwhile, Guardiola won back-to-back domestic crowns with Bayern Munich between 2014-16, before moving to England with Man City.

He had a trophyless first season at the Etihad in the 2016/17 year, but his team are currently flying high at top of the Premier League.

Collymore feels that the Spurs manager has the edge over his Man City counterpart in recent years and has taken into account the different wage budgets they have been working on.

Spurs fans will love Collymore’s evaluation of Argentinian boss Pochettino, who is a very popular figure at the club.

“Poch has been a better pound for pound manager than Pep in the last three seasons. Pound for Pound!” Collymore wrote on his personal Twitter account.

OPINION

Guardiola has had the financial backing at Man City and his recruitment plus style of play is now beginning to make them look like a real strong outfit. Meanwhile, Pochettino has worked on much stricter budgets and his key strength has been the development of some brilliant young players. The likes of Dele Alli and Harry Kane have become very good players under his tenure, which has massively boosted England’s national side. Both Spurs and Man City will be delighted with their current managers, but both are going to be judged on their trophy return at the end of the season.
