Newcastle United fans took to Twitter to slam goalkeeper Rob Elliot after his performance in their 2-2 draw at Southampton on Sunday.
The 30-year-old has been an ever-present in the Premier League for the north-east giants this season, starting every one of their eight league matches to date.
The Republic of Ireland international began the season well but has been less effective in recent weeks and was below par against the Saints.
He missed critical punches and was slow to react as Southampton twice came from behind to snatch a point at St Mary’s Stadium in an entertaining clash.
Goals from Isaac Hayden and Ayoze Perez had twice put Newcastle in front, but Elliot was beaten by a double from Manolo Gabbiadini, the first a quickly taken drive on the half-turn and the second a smashed penalty that was virtually unstoppable.
The point means that Newcastle remain ninth on 11 points, two points ahead of Southampton, who move into tenth.
Newcastle fans turned to Twitter to blast their number one, with many questioning his composure and shot stopping abilities.

I’d take Darlow over Elliot any day, slow over the goal, poor shot stopper and no more confident in the air than Darlow is #NUFC

Manquillo should be doing better & Elliot should never get beaten at his front post like that #nufc

Shocking that. No way he should be getting the shot away and Elliot has to do better as well #NUFC
