Man United have been sensationally linked with a move for Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil on a free transfer, but a lot of their fans aren’t happy with the news.
The Independent reported that Jose Mourinho is set to make a move for Ozil on a Bosman with his contract running out next summer.
Arsenal have been keen to keep him but so far the midfielder has refused to sign a new contract.
The United manager worked with the player before at Real Madrid and the two have remained on good terms.
Mourinho was a big fan of the player at Madrid, with the Independent saying “he quickly realised that Ozil was capable of understanding and executing complex tactical orders.”
Ozil had a brilliant 2015/16 season with Arsenal, contributing 19 assists and six goals, but tailed off last season with just 10 assists and eight goals.
This season he’s made five Premier League appearances without a goal or an assist and Man United fans don’t think he’d improve their club – even on a free transfer.
