Michael Owen has found it difficult to separate Tottenham and Liverpool in his prediction ahead of their Premier League clash, which has seen him lean towards a draw.

Spurs host league rivals Liverpool on Sunday and both teams have mid-weeks excursions in the Champions League.

The North London club picked up an impressive 1-1 draw away to European heavyweights Real Madrid, while the Merseyside club smashed Slovenian side Maribor 7-0 on the road.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side will now turn their attention to the league as they look to build some momentum at their temporary home ground Wembley.

They have just one victory in their four home matches in the league season, but did beat Bournemouth 1-0 last weekend.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have five points from their four away matches in the league this season and will be buoyed by their comprehensive win over Maribor.

Owen has struggled to separate the teams ahead of their clash at Wembley and is predicting a draw.

“Spurs have been very impressive on their travels whilst struggling in ‘home’ games at Wembley,” Owen wrote in his column for Bet Victor. “Liverpool have likewise thrived on the road this term and will be buoyed by their 7-0 win in the Champions League.

“I find it difficult to split the sides and expect it to be one for the neutrals at the home of football on Sunday.”

OPINION

Liverpool already seem like unlikely contenders for the Premier League crown and the latest injury Sadio Mane could see them struggle in upcoming weeks, despite an impressive Champions League win. Jurgen Klopp’s side need to focus on pushing for a top-four position and their record against their main rivals has been strong in recent years. Spurs could still realistically be in the mix for the title and three points at home to Liverpool could lay down a serious marker.
