Michael Owen has predicted Everton to lose when they travel to Leicester on Sunday in the Premier League.

The Toffees travel to the King Power Stadium with caretaker manager David Unsworth in charge and it will be their first league clash since the sacking of Ronald Koeman.

The Merseyside club narrowly lost 2-1 away to Chelsea in the Carabao Cup in mid-week, but their focus will be on the league as they look to climb out of the relegation places.

Meanwhile, Claude Puel will take charge of his first game in charge as the new Leicester manager and will be hoping to lay down a marker.

Owen has tipped Everton to lose in their away clash at the weekend and admits he would be very surprised if they got a result.

“The Foxes produced a confidence-boosting 3-1 win over Leeds in the League Cup midweek, which should set things up perfectly for Claude Puel to make his debut in the King Power dugout at the weekend,” Owen wrote in his column for Bet Victor.

“Both sides have sacked their managers just 10 weeks into the new season but Leicester have played the better football thus far and only a brave man would back Everton based on what we’ve seen in recent weeks.”

OPINION

Everton are in desperate need of a quick turnaround of results as they sit in the bottom three, but their fixtures are kinder during the next few weeks and they should climb up the table as a result. The trip to Leicester is arguably their most difficult on paper during the next four games, with a home clash with Watford and trips to Crystal Palace and Southampton also on the horizon. The Toffees need to inject some real pace in their side, something that appeared to work well in the defeat to Chelsea in the cup. They will clearly need a striker in January to help solve their issues in attack, but should have enough in their squad for now to turn things around.
