Robbie Savage has made a dig at Aston Villa on Twitter after their draw against Birmingham on Sunday afternoon.

The two Midlands rivals played out a 0-0 scoreline at St Andrew’s at the weekend as both sides lacked the cutting edge in the final third.

Steve Bruce’s side went close late on to snatching the three points, but hit the crossbar twice and settled for a draw.

Villa are sixth-placed in the league table following the result and are occupying the final play-off spot as they fight for promotion this campaign.

Meanwhile, Birmingham are 21st in the Championship and are hovering just above the relegation places.

Former Blues midfielder and current pundit Savage has taken a swipe at Villa after their failure to win at the weekend.

“Villa can’t beat a team 4th from bottom,” Savage wrote on his personal Twitter account.

OPINION

Villa will be bitterly disappointed to drop two points against Birmingham on Sunday in what was a fairly dull affair. They need to be beating teams in the bottom half of the table if they are to launch a bid for the automatic spots and will have to cope with the lottery of the play-offs if not. They were just not clinical enough against Birmingham and young striker Keinan Davis could be pushing for a start in the next game against Preston after his positive impact off the bench. Savage has taken a swipe at Villa that will frustrate fans, but his former side Birmingham need to focus on dragging themselves away from the relegation zone in the competitive Championship.
