Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has delivered a worrying update on Harry Kane’s fitness after his side’s 1-0 defeat to Man United on Saturday.

Kane was missing from the game at Old Trafford after limping off the pitch during the 4-1 win against Liverpool last weekend.

After the Liverpool game Pochettino said Kane was just “tired” but it transpired that he had suffered a slight hamstring strain.

Tottenham fans will be desperately hoping that their talismanic striker is fit for the crunch Champions league tie against Real Madrid on Wednesday.

But, talking after the game, as quoted by Football.London, Pochettino said the striker would need more time to prove his fitness and would need to be assessed.

“We’ll see, we’ll see in the next few days if he can arrive and if he will be available to play against Real Madrid.

“We need to assess him tomorrow and after tomorrow and then take a decision.”

OPINION

This is just what the Tottenham fans didn’t want to hear. Tottenham have a brilliant chance to top Group H after drawing with Real Madrid away from home. Kane forced an own goal from Raphael Varane in that game and he would surely be essential if they want to come away with three points at Wembley. Pochettino had said Kane was fine after the Liverpool game. That wasn’t the case and this must be seen as a worrying update for Spurs fans after two successive defeats since Kane’s injury.
