Manchester United fans took to Twitter to rip into Henrikh Mkhitaryan for his performance in their 1-0 Premier League win against Tottenham on Saturday.
The Armenia international started for the ninth time in United’s 10 league matches this season after he was given the nod ahead of the likes of Juan Mata, Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard.
But Mkhitaryan struggled to make an impact and was withdrawn after 65 minutes in favour of Lingard, who took up the right flank role.
It was another substitute, Martial, who scored the game’s only goal when he latched on to Romelu Lukaku’s flick-on to bundle the ball past Hugo Lloris.
It secured the three points for United and consolidated their place at second in the table, lifting them three points ahead of fellow title challengers Spurs.
But the United faithful were not happy with the contribution of Mkhitaryan, with a section of supporters calling for him to be axed after what they felt was another poor performance.

In general Mata, Mkhitaryan and Lingard are not good enough to get us where we truly want to be. For now, they are the best we can do. #MUFC

Ashley Young was MOTM by far today, Mkhitaryan and Herrera well off the pace again for me, but a very good win #MUFC
