Leeds are considering a January move for highly-rated Norwegian striker Abdul-Basit Agouda, according to Football Insider

The popular football website claims that Leeds are one of a number of English clubs who are chasing the highly-rated Ghanaian-born player.

The 18-year-old has impressed for his club Stromgodset and for the Norwegian Under-18s where he’s scored three goals in 10 appearances.

Agouda had a trial at Championship rivals Brighton last January and almost signed but the clubs couldn’t agree a fee.

Football Insider report that Middlesbrough also had an offer rejected for the striker they compare to Bournemouth’s prolific Josh King.

Agouda has rejected a new contract at his club and has currently been demoted to the reserve team where he is now the top scorer.

It means that Leeds could nab him in January for a small compensation fee, with the player said to be keen on a move to England.

A good move for Leeds?

The striker is highly-rated, has been compared to Josh King because of his strength, pace and eye for goal, is scoring for his club and country, and will be available for a small compensation fee – what’s not to like here? Leeds are planning for the here and now with a push for promotion, but also with an eye to the future with youngsters like Jay-Roy Grot. He might not be well known over in England but with all the pieces of the jigsaw fitting together, this would be a fine move.

Likely to happen?

Leeds are one of a number of clubs interested in his signature so it might not be that easy, especially if Brighton come back in and offer a fast-track to Premier League football. They had him on trial but couldn’t agree a fee, although the report doesn’t specify that they’re still interested. Among the Championship teams, Leeds would have to be seen to be in with a good shot of landing him.
