Aston Villa striker Harry McKirdy has revealed on Twitter that he has agreed the terms of a new contract with the club.

McKirdy, 20, announced on his personal Twitter account on Monday afternoon that he is “delighted” to have signed a new deal with the Championship giants.

The forward did not reveal the length of the agreement, although Villa had stated that it will run for two years until the summer of 2019.

Aston Villa confirmed on their official Twitter account that the youngster has extended his deal until the summer of 2019.

McKirdy is yet to make a senior appearance for Aston Villa but has been an established member of their Under-23s in recent seasons.

OPINION

McKirdy is behind man-of-the-moment Kienan Davis in terms of young Aston Villa strikers but is clearly highly thought of at the club. He is versatile, mobile and has already showed in a loan spell last season at League Two outfit Stevenage that he can cut it in the professional game. He scored two goals in 13 appearances and showed that if he continues to develop at his parent club he can follow Davis and Andre Green from the academy into Steve Bruce’s first team.
