Stan Collymore has expressed his excitement on Twitter after Aston Villa secured their fourth consecutive win in the Championship against Bolton Wanderers. 

Steve Bruce’s side claimed a 1-0 victory over the Trotters on Saturday afternoon after Jonathan Kodjia netted a penalty in the first-half.

Saturday’s win marked their eighth match unbeaten in the competition and moved them up to seventh place in the current rankings.

Football pundit, Stan Collymore posted a picture of a roaring lion on his personal Twitter account alongside the caption: “Hi Championship, Daddy’s home.”

The former Villa centre-forward followed up with another tweet, which read: “Let the Derby week begin! Out of the darkness cometh the Villa.”

Aston Villa will be hoping to continue their successful run in the competition and will next face Wolves after the international break, hence why Collymore was looking forward to the derby.

OPINION

After a difficult start and a number of frustrating draws in the competition it will be a breath of fresh air to Steve Bruce, the squad and also the Aston Villa fans to have secured their fourth consecutive win. Collymore stated that the club are coming out of the darkness, and many will share his views as the club finally look like they might contend for promotion. Villa are only five points off leaders Cardiff, and will so many more games left to play climbing the table even more is completely achievable.
