Tottenham kept up their fantastic start to this season’s Champions League, recording a draw away to Real Madrid on Wednesday night.

The bookies had made Real Madrid short favourites to take all three points but Tottenham – a 6/1 shot at the start of the night – might have snatched them after taking the lead in the first half.

It looked like Harry Kane had got the goal but replays afterwards showed that it was an own goal from Madrid’s Raphael Varane.

Either way it was a fantastic ball in from Serge Aurier on the right but he showed his wild side later on and it cost his team dearly.

Toni Kroos found himself in the Tottenham penalty area late on in the first half but it looked like he had lost control of the ball when Aurier came bundling in with a clumsy challenge.

Kroos went over and the referee pointed to the spot. Cristiano Ronaldo stepped up and finished decisively to equalise just before half time.

That was the last goal in the game and Tottenham took a deserved point home with them from one of the toughest tests of manager Mauricio Pochettino’s reign.
