Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund combined XI

|

Goalkeeper and defence

Hugo Lloris (Goalkeeper) – Lloris is the best option in goal and is a better shot stopper than Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Burki.

Serge Aurier (Right-back) – Aurier is still yet to make his Spurs debut, but it’s clear from his time with Paris-Saint Germain that he is the best right-sided defender available. He should overtake team-mate Kieran Trippier soon and is a better option than Dortmund stalwart Lukasz Piszczek.

Toby Alderweireld (Centre-back) – The Belgian centre-back is arguably the best defender in the Premier League and is a comfortable pick in the combined XI.

Jan Vertonghen (Centre-back) – He has a brilliant partnership alongside Alderweireld and is included in the team, but Dortmund’s Marc Bartra could have been in contention if not for his injury doubt.

Ben Davies (Left-back) – He is the best option at left-back, but that is only due to injuries to the likes of Danny Rose, Raphael Guerreiro and Marcel Schmelzer.
