Cheikhou Kouyate completed 90 minutes for West Ham in their victory over Huddersfield – and the club’s supporters ripped into him on Twitter for his performance.

The Hammers picked up their first points of the season on Monday night as they beat Huddersfield 2-0 at home in the Premier League.

They had to wait until the second-half until they broke down their opponents as Pedro Obiang and Andre Ayew scored two quick goals.

Slaven Bilic’s side took a huge weight off their shoulders after losing their opening three games and a return to the London Stadium brought them good luck.

However, some West Ham fans were still frustrated after the game and highlighted the performance of Senegal international Kouyate.

They believe that the central midfielder really struggled in front of goal and some suggested he should only be used as a defender.

Kouyate got his first start of the season for West Ham against Huddersfield as Bilic made five changes to his side, including the return of star striker Andy Carroll.

The Hammers dominated much of the game, but failed to make their chances count until late on.

Kouyate was guilty of being wasteful in front of goal and on one instance completely scuffed an effort on the edge of the penalty area after a Carroll knockdown.

The midfielder will hope to retain his place in the starting XI for the next game against West Brom, despite much criticism from fans over his technical ability.

He was used as an emergency defender for much of last season, but has reverted back to his more accustomed defensive midfield role this year.
