Rangers could make a move for Motherwell hitman Louis Moult when the transfer window re-opens in January, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper claims that Hibernian manager and Celtic icon Neil Lennon is also keen to land Moult, 25, who was the subject of a bid from Aberdeen in the summer after he refused to sign a new contract at Fir Park.

Now in the final year of his deal at Motherwell, the top-flight striker can sign a pre-contract elsewhere in January, meaning that Rangers may delay their pursuit of him until then.

Good move for Rangers?

Pedro Caixinha could certainly do with some extra fire power in his squad and with Kenny Miller’s performances waning, Moult could be the guy to replace him. Alfredo Morelos has already been a hit at Ibrox and couple that with the arrival of the in-form Well striker, the Gers strikeforce could install fear into the hearts of most defenders in the Scottish Premiership.

Likely to happen?

Rangers don’t do expensive business. Dave King bankrolled a major reshuffle of the squad in the summer but as the months passed, it seemed that there was little else to offer to get players in after Graham Dorrans’ arrival from Norwich. Moult could be available for free pretty soon so it’s very likely that Rangers will join the rush to sign him up. Aberdeen reigniting their interest could be a big concern though.
