Pedro Caixinha has confirmed that Bruno Alves  and Declan John could miss out on the Old Firm Clash against Celtic on Saturday.

Caixinha was speaking at the press conference ahead of the hotly-anticipated first Old Firm clash of the season.

Asked about injuries he said, “We are still assessing Bruno Alves and Declan John at this moment.”

Caixinha also said that he has a clear plan going into the game regardless of who starts.

“I have a clear idea of what we need to do from the game,” he said at the press conference.

“The actors may be different but the script remains the same.”

Rangers need everyone fit and 100% if they want to get anything out of the Old Firm clash on Saturday. The veteran centre-back in particular would be a huge loss to Rangers. Since joining Rangers from Cagliari, he has played the full 90 minutes in all of Rangers’ six Premiership clashes, along with a further two appearances in the League Cup where he scored his only goal of the season so far. His experience and cool head at the back would be irreplaceable. He was pulled off with a knock on Tuesday when Rangers beat Partick and replaced by Ross McCrorie who made his senior debut. McCrorie did amazingly well and Caixinha raved about him afterwards. He said he’d have no problem playing the youngster again at Ibrox against Celtic but it wouldn’t be ideal. If he does play it would be the biggest test of his career. Rangers fans will be hoping that Alves recovers to take his place in the team.
