West Ham CEO Karren Brady has said that she is jealous of the current Spurs side and added that she wants them to win the Premier League.

“I admit I am jealous of the current Spurs side,” she said in her column in the Sun.

“Not only for their consistently watchable style of play but for unearthing several of the country’s most accomplished young players, Harry Kane, Eric Dier, Dele Alli, Danny Rose and the numbers continue to add up.

“What more could a true supporter want? Well, a first Premier League title would do.

“I’d rather like to see them upset the foreign spendthrifts and do it.”

OPINION

Well, Tottenham fans wouldn’t have been expecting this. And they’re pretty stunning statements for the CEO of a London rival. As Brady says herself, she hasn’t always had a good relationship with her London rivals, but fair play to her for coming out and saying something that will likely upset Hammers fans. Especially after Tottenham took three points from their team in a tight 3-2 win on Saturday. Any neutral would look at what Tottenham are currently doing and wish them well. They’re playing good, consistent football, and bringing up a lot of exceptional homegrown talent. They’re now firmly in the mix for major honours every year and although Brady would obviously want West Ham to win the Premier League, that is not happening any time soon. In the absence of that, she wants Tottenham to win it – and that may well bring her some grudging admiration from Tottenham fans.
