Ben Woodburn is having an amazing month and Liverpool fans don’t think he’s far off Jurgen Klopp’s first-team squad.
The 17-year-old won his first two caps in Wales’ last two internationals, and although he only enjoyed cameo performances, he scored the winner in the game against Austria with a brilliant long-range strike.
Last night he was at it again, this time for the Liverpool Under-19s in their UEFA Youth League group game against Sevilla, and he put in a superb display in the 4-0 win, which had coach Steven Gerrard purring on the sidelines.
After the game, Gerrard said, “I know he’s very confident at the moment and rightly so through what happened at Wales, but it’s a good test for him because you’re thinking ‘What’s Ben Woodburn going to give you?’. But he ticked absolutely every box, he was superb.”
Asked whether he’d be available for the next European game for the Under-19s at the end of the month, Gerrard just replied, “Ask Jurgen Klopp that question.”
Woodburn has already made nine senior appearances for Liverpool and fans think he’s ready for another run in the side after his recent exploits.
