Laurent Koscielny has said that Alexis Sanchez needs to “keep his head cool” and “just play and enjoy”.

Contract rebel Alexis Sanchez was heavily linked to Manchester City over the summer but a move didn’t materialise.

And the re-integration of Sanchez into the team hasn’t gone as smoothly as Gunners fans would have hoped.

Sanchez has only started one Premier League game – the 4-0 defeat to Liverpool – and he’s yet to score a goal or provide an assist.

He has played 90 minutes in Arsenal’s 3-1 Europa League win against Cologne, where he scored, and in the 1-0 League Cup win against Doncaster, where he provided an assist.

Arsenal beat Bournemouth 3-0 and put in an impressive display to draw 0-0 with Chelsea in their last two Premier League games.

So, the big question for Wenger ahead of the West Brom game is whether to start the player who was the star of Arsenal’s team last season.

Koscielny has backed his teammate to make a successful comeback.

Talking in the Evening Standard, Koscielny said: “Alexis is an important player for us. I know it’s a difficult situation with the transfer window but now it’s finished and I think he is focused on his job, on his performance and on his club.

“He’s an Arsenal player and he knows that he needs to play and he needs to score some goals and give assists to be better.

“He’s still working every day like he did before, so the most important thing is to keep his head cool and just play and enjoy.”

Arsenal play West Brom in Monday night’s premier League game in desperate need of a win against Tony Pulis’ side.

They’re currently in 12th position in the league and nine points behind the two Manchester teams at the top, although they do have tonight’s game in hand.
