Michael Owen has predicted that Celtic will get a positive result when they face Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night in the Champions League group stages.

Brendan Rodgers’ side go into the match as huge underdogs as they host French giants PSG at Parkhead.

The Bhoys have been drawn a very difficult task of reaching the knockout rounds as Bayern Munich face Anderlecht in the other match in Group B.

The Scottish champions were undefeated domestically last season, but the real test for them this year is to improve on the European stage after a Champions League group exit in the last campaign.

They start against one of the competition favourites as PSG now have a front-line of Edinson Cavani, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

Owen has remarkably backed Celtic to get a result against all the odds and has tipped the Scottish outfit to get either a draw or a win against PSG.

“Celtic have only won one of their last 14 CL games and not kept a clean sheet in their last 19 ties but I just have a feeling they can get something against Unai Emery’s star-studded side,” Owen wrote in his column for Bet Victor. “The head says PSG in a canter but sometimes in football logic goes out of the window.”

OPINION

Owen’s prediction of a Celtic result seems highly unlikely as PSG should run out comfortable winners given the quality in their squad. However, last season Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City drew 3-3 on their trip to Parkhead and the ground is famous for being particularly special on a European night. Celtic fans will be doing everything they can to make it an intimidating atmosphere for the PSG players and doing their bit to cheer on the players. Celtic also do have a winning mentality that should help their players and the home matches will be their best chance to accumulate points in the group stage.
