Tottenham will be without five senior players when they travel to Huddersfield on Saturday in the Premier League.

Long-term absentees Erik Lamela (hip) and Danny Rose (knee) remain sidelined with their injuries, while midfield pair Mousa Dembele (ankle) and Victor Wanyama (knee) are also out of contention.

Defender Serge Aurier is the fifth senior man missing from Mauricio Pochettino’s squad as he serves a domestic suspension.

The 24-year-old was shown a red card in the last league game in the 3-2 win over West Ham and has already shown the rash side of his game during his short time in English football.

Spurs confirmed on their official Twitter account that the five players are unavailable for selection against Huddersfield.

The North London club have played four away games across all competitions so far this season and picked up maximum points on the road.

Pochettino’s side may be struggling at home with their new Wembley surroundings, but they have looked clinical so far in away fixtures.

Meanwhile, David Wagner’s Huddersfield side have made an excellent beginning to the Premier League and are eighth-placed after six games.

OPINION

The five first-team players missing against Huddersfield would arguably all go into Spurs best XI if everyone was fit, but Pochettino does have a good depth to their squad. They have managed to cope without Rose and Lamela during their long absences and that shouldn’t cause a problem against Huddersfield. Meanwhile, Aurier suspension will only give his teammate Kieran Trippier the chance to try impress. The only area for concern will be the centre of the park where Dembele and Wanyama are huge misses. They do have Eric Dier, Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko to fill the void, but all three could be tired from the midweek exploits against Apoel Nicosia in the Champions League.
