David Prutton predicts that Leeds will get back to winning ways in the Championship on Saturday, with a relatively easy victory over Ipswich.

Thomas Christiansen’s side lost their unbeaten record at the New Den last weekend, when they lost 1-0 to Millwall in a flat performance.

However, they bounced back with a dramatic victory over Burnley in a League Cup penalty shootout on Tuesday.

And Prutton actually believes the loss against Millwall could have helped them.

“In a strange way Leeds losing last week may not have been too bad for them in the long run,” said Prutton in his Sky Sports column.

“I fancied them to win at Millwall but a defeat may have taken the pressure off a little bit.

“They made a lot of changes in the week against Burnley but still got a good result so there won’t be an end to the feel-good factor at Elland Road, and they’ll have too much for Ipswich on Saturday.”

He predicted the score would be 2-0.

OPINION

It might seem strange to say that losing is a good thing but, beyond the loss of points, there is some truth in what he says. Leeds had a fantastic start to the season but sometimes talk of runs and records can get in the way of just focusing on taking things a game at a time. It’s ridiculously early to talk about promotion and the like, but when you’re top of the league it’s inevitable. Christiansen’s job is to focus his men and to keep them grounded. And he showed that he can do that at Burnley. We also think Leeds will have too much for Ipswich and Prutton’s predicted scoreline seems about right.
