New Leeds striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga has delivered a message to Leeds fans after the tough win against Burnley in the League Cup.

After Leeds took the lead in the 80th minute through Hadi Sacko, three late goals saw the tie go to a penalty shootout.

Leeds were immaculate here, scoring all five goals, including one from Lasogga, who stepped up to take the first penalty which he dispatched confidently.

After the game, Lasogga took time out to deliver a message to Leeds fans, saying how “tough” the game was and hailing the support from the Elland Road faithful.

OPINION

Leeds made the game harder than it should have been by conceding two late goals when they held the lead twice. Players like Lasogga could have done without the 30 minutes extra time, but all of Thomas Christiansen’s men stepped up to the plate and performed heroically. Lasogga took the first penalty for Leeds and set their stall out, with five strikes that were all totally unsaveable. Andy Lonergan waited for his chance and saved brilliantly from Burnley’s James Tarkowski to give his side a massive boost going into the Championship game against Ipswich on Saturday.
